They Live

Starring: Rowdy Rod Piper

This is a low-brow science fiction epic with many homoerotic touches, featuring Pro-Wrestler Rod Piper at his rowdy best. The basic idea is that purple, gelatinous aliens come down to Earth and enslave us all, by replacing our familiar USAToday with subliminal messages of submission and conformity which we can only see with the aid of special kickin’ shades (which someone leaves conveniently lying around in a cardboard box for Rowdy Rod to find.) Rowdy Rod defies the aliens with snappy lines like: “I have come to chew bubble gum and kick ass, and I’m out of gum.” Do I even have to mention that Rowdy Rod spends his dying moment flipping the aliens the bird? Like so many awful movies, this film has essentially no plot (and what little exists is utterly confusing) but this shouldn’t prevent you from enjoying its fine, vintage cheese. YOU haven’t lived until you see this movie!
